UPDATE:

The Farm bill was required to be re-authorized in 2023. However, Congress was unable to accomplish this, but did manage to pass a continuing resolution to maintain the status quo on many farm bill programs until the fall of 2024. It is unclear if Congress will be able to accomplish a new authorization by this fall or if we will see another continuing resolution until after the election.

We continue to encourage Congress to:

  • Protect SNAP funding levels

  • Expand the Urban Agriculture and Innovation Program to $50 million

  • Increase TEFAP (Food banks) funding to $500 million

  • Build on the successes of agricultural environmental stewardship investments accomplished in the inflation reduction act.
